SIHMA's Participation in “The Future of Work – Labour after Laudato si’” Project Consultation
The Scalabrini Institute for Human Mobility will be participating in “The Future of Work – Labour after Laudato si’” Project, being facilitated by the International Catholic Migration Commission (ICMC), and the Dicastery for the Promotion of Integral Human Development. The purpose of the project is to Promote “Care is work, work is care” toward Building a Global Transformative Community, as a response to the call for the care of creation from Laudato Si’ and Pope Francis exhortation, Laudate Deum. Therefore, a Consultation on the above process will be held in Rome in May 2024 with the main objective of developing a roadmap for further action to be undertaken in the next three years. This event presents an opportunity for common social discernment toward building and consolidating a Global Transformative community on the promotion of “Care is work, work is care”. The event will bring together young people, academics, employers and workers organizations, faith- and values-based actors engaged in actions, projects, and processes to ensure an imaginative, innovative, peaceful, and more equitable building of our common future. The project proposal has been organised around 3 interconnected and mutually reinforced outcomes: Understanding, Transform, and Advocate. As an active partner in the global project, SIHMA will be able to contribute to the discussion by bringing its experience and the consequent analysis made by the organization to enrich the debate and discernment process. Furthermore, collaboration of the different organisations will be beneficial in framing the next steps for The Future of Work – Labour after Laudato si’” Project and to identify necessary actions and outcomes to build the Global Transformative Community. SIHMA is appreciative for this opportunity to meet and network with other stakeholders with a common goal of transforming the society.
