Meet Our New Interns

On the 14th of June the SIHMA team bid our remote intern, Christine, farewell as her internship had come to an end. Christine had been managing our social media posts since March, and she will be greatly missed. Luckily for us, we had two new interns join us in office on the 31st May, to make the transition easier. Brilliant and Nathan have been with us for just under a month now, and have both acclimatized well. Although Brilliant has now moved to a remote internship, her presence is still felt throughout the office. Meet our new interns below:

Brilliant Fane is a second-year masters student at the Pennsylvania State University in the United States. She is currently pursuing a degree in International Affairs with a concentration in African Development and Development Policy. Her career interests lie in policymaking and community development schemes. Her skills include leadership, public speaking, IT (Microsoft office), good communication skills and a genuine passion for African development issues. In her spare time, Brilliant enjoys watching sitcoms, legal series and enjoying some downtime with friends and family. Brilliant’s relevant work experience is being an Economics and Business Studies teaching assistant at the Livingstone Kolobeng College in Botswana where she also mentored form 4-6 students, she also assisted at Penn State’s department of Geography and African Studies. Brilliant is currently a Research and Communications intern at the Scalabrini Institute for Human Mobility in Africa (SIHMA).

Nathan is a 4th-year student at Michigan State University studying Political Science with a minor in law, justice, and public policy. He was born and raised in the United States to Zimbabwean immigrant parents. He has a strong interest in international development and economic sustainability and seeks to eventually practice as a lawyer in those areas.
