Scalabrini Migration Study Centers Meeting

SIHMA is one of seven research centers of the Scalabrini International Migration Network (SIMN). These include Centro Studi Emigrazione (CSER) in Rome, Centre for Migration Studies (CMS) in New York, Centro De Estudos Migratorios (CEM) in Sao Paulo, Centro de Estudios Migratorios Latinoamericanos (CEMLA) in Argentia, Centre d’information et d’études sur les migrations internationals (CIEMI) in Paris, Scalabrini Migration Center in Manila. The study centers conduct research on the movement of populations around the world, publishing peer reviewed journals and magazines, media products and reports focused on the main interesting aspects of human mobility. On the 11th and the 12th of July, SIHMA will be attending Scalabrini Migration Study Centers meeting to discuss the situation of migration in each study center’s operating region, research on migration, aspects are most relevant to the development of the study centers, and the possible role to be played by SMSCs. The meeting will give an opportunity for the study center directors to discuss strategies to revitalize the study center network and to share some strategies that the study center is pursuing. Experts from each study center will present the situation of research on migration in the geographic area of the respective center on the research strategy that the study center is pursuing. This engagement is important in establishing ways that the study centers can work together with other partners towards doing research to enhance the lives of the people on the move globally.
