Beneberu Assefa Wondimagegnhu is an Assistant Professor and head of the department of rural Development & Agricultural Extension in College of Agriculture and Environmental sciences at Bahir Dar University. He is also chair for rural Development & sustainable livelihoods module and coordinates the M.Sc program in Rural Development Management. He holds a PhD Degree in International Development Studies from Ruhr University of Bochum, Germany. In addition, he holds MA in Development Management from Ruhr University of Bochum, Germany and MA in Development Studies from the University of the Western Cape, South Africa. Moreover, he holds a B.Sc degree in Agricultural Extension from Haramaya University (the former Alemaya University).
Dr. Beneberu won a scholarship grant from German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and from South African-German Centre for Development Research and Criminal Justice for his Masters and PhD studies, respectively. In addition, he received short-term trainings on structural equation modeling, biometrics in agriculture, scientific paper writing and presentation, media and instructional methods, value chain management, intercultural communication and team building, etc.
Previously, he worked with Bread for the World (Brot fuer die Welt), Department of food security, agriculture and environment in Germany as an intern; and in Ethiopian Institute of Agricultural Research as a researcher and head of the Research & extension division. He wrote several research papers and has got a great deal of experience in managing a number of research projects. Furthermore, he has written several training modules in his department. His research interest includes migration studies, economic and social development, effectiveness of development projects, resettlement policies, poverty and food security, policy analysis and rural development.
